Bask in the Glow

Another entry from the past:

As I watched Kenton play this morning, I realized something precious. Kenton gently tapped Ray and patiently waited for him to wake up. Then Ray started playing with him lavishing lots of attention on him. Kenton started running and dancing around very enthusiastically. I told Ray, "he's basking in the glow of his father's presence."

As I said those words, I thought "how true that is of each of us in our walk with the Lord." the times when we face hardships and challenges and it seems God is not there or too busy for us are difficult and lonely (Ray has been working long hours and not around a lot during the week). However, the times when we feel God close to us and sense his presence with us, these are special and beautiful times. We often express that joy through praise to our Father.

I will cherish this story in my heart, what a precious picture it is.

Wearing Daddy's Shoes

Now that I have this place to journal I wanted to share some past stories. This one is from August 14, 2010.

Kenton often wants to put on Ray's shoes and try to walk around in them. Obviously, they are way too big for his tiny feet, and he can barely lift his foot without help from Daddy to keep his balance. However, he doesn't give up, and he keeps trying over and over with loving gentle help from his Father's hand.

This painted such a vivid picture for me. When we step out faithfully putting on the "shoes" of our Heavenly Father, he is there reaching out his hand to support and help us to take the "big steps" we are facing.

When we try to walk in our own strength, (even though these are the shoes God asked us to wear and the steps he asked us to take) we will fall down. However, when we reach out and take his hand, he will help us take each and every difficult step. As we mature in following him, we get stronger and the steps get easier. And then the shoes get bigger again. :)
